If I was on a deserted island and could only bring one beauty essential, there is no doubt in my mind that it would be eyeliner. To be honest, eyeliner actually tied with bronzer but I figure I would get pretty bronzed on an island, so eyeliner won out. Well-applied eyeliner is the single easiest way to “open up” your eyes and appear like you are actually conscious…which is very handy after you find yourself short on sleep. Which, in our case, is always.
The key to amazing-looking eyes is staying very close to your lash line and keeping your hand steady. Don’t pull or stretch your skin! Go from inside to out…maybe making the outer part a little swooshy. Just stay as close to your lash line as possible.
One of the best and longest-lasting (not to mention easiest to apply) eyeliners I have found is Kat Von D tattoo liner in Tattoo Trooper, a rich black. It also comes in brown if you prefer. And don’t worry that it’s called tattoo…it’s not permanent, just super long-lasting! Honestly, it’s so great that I’ve turned on lots of peeps (including Ann) to this one. You’ll find it at Sephora.

One of the makeup artists at the Chanel counter at Nordstrom swears that curling your lashes and putting on mascara first (before the liner) is the way to do it. The eyeliner has something to glom onto…try it…it works!
