What is FaceTime Design, you ask?
Simply put, it’s an opportunity to have a conversation with an experienced designer. First, we set up an appointment with you to have a FaceTime chat. Then you walk us (literally) through the space or spaces where you want our input. We’ve had inquiries about such things as furniture placement, paint colors, accessory ideas, mantle styling, and bookshelf design to name a few. Then we make our recommendations. It’s really that simple. FaceTime Design is much less expensive than using a traditional designer, and, in many people’s opinion, far less intimidating. (See design service tab at the top of page for pricing.)
FaceTime Design embraces our philosophy which has always remained the same: buy what you love. Save if you have to and buy the right pieces. Keep in mind that many times LESS is MORE. When your home is filled with the things you love, it makes for a happy space filled with your own personality. We also believe a room should be beautiful, comfortable and functional. Yes, that is possible!
One of the things we specialize in is room refreshing. Many times, you don’t need a complete overhaul; you just need a little refresh. Sometimes it’s just a matter of rearranging furniture, adding a few new pillows and maybe a lamp or two. Or maybe it’s editing out some things you already have. What makes a space look magazine-worthy? The details. We believe it’s the final layering that turns a house into a beautiful home.
We recently had a chat and with a woman who had just moved into a new home.
And while she had some lovely pieces, the scale was off because her new home was larger with 10 foot ceilings. She had a beautiful mirror above a sofa that she had hung horizontally – just as it was in her previous home. Our suggestion was to paint it and flip it so it hung vertically; then, flank it with several pictures on each side. We then added new pillows and restyled her coffee table. The space was literally transformed! Here’s an example:
Just the other day, another client, Julie, called us for a FaceTime Design appointment.
When she’s not traveling for work, Julie works from home and spends a lot of time in her office. She wanted the space to be more cozy and less office-like. The space needed to be a place she could enjoy and be productive at the same time. With that in mind, we needed to find the balance of beauty and function. The first step was to “cozy up” the space by painting the walls with a rich, deep color. Julie had bought the mirror featured here on Style Elevator and nothing looks better with metallic finishes than a rich, dark color. We then helped her select a beautiful sofa and added amazing pillows for a little fun. Next up on our list is to find tables, lamps, and accessories.
